Catalogs grew while listed services and endpoints edged lower
The x402 repo saw work on payment correctness and recovery. PR #3676 would reject malformed EIP-712 offer and receipt payloads with a defined error, while PR #3640 proposes a standardized refund path. PR #3674 addresses Cardano by submitting the client’s signed transaction bytes unchanged. Open proposals include #3449 on commitments for the default asset transfer method and #3579 on Cardano batch settlement.
Discovery and delivery remain active problems. Issue #3677 reports resources still missing from Bazaar more than 24 hours after real settlements. PR #3186 proposes binding delivered responses to offer-receipts, alongside the 111-comment delivery-receipt proposal in #2833 and the 94-comment settlement-attestation proposal in #1195. Bazaar resources rose from 24,414 to 30,728, while Agent Tools services rose from 16,978 to 17,221 and healthy services from 8,930 to 9,300.
The x402 list moved from 853 to 850 services and from 5,982 to 5,957 endpoints. Average 24-hour uptime fell from 88.9% to 88.3%, while average response time improved from 689 ms to 675 ms. Listed prices average $0.395, with a $0.01 median, a $0 minimum, and a $50 maximum. Nano has five listed services, with 13 `nano:mainnet` and two `nano` entries in Agent Tools.
Opinion
Inventory growth is outpacing operational confidence. The next meaningful improvement will come from delivery proofs, refunds, and discovery fixes rather than another expansion of supported rails; if those issues remain unresolved, the larger catalog will mostly increase the surface area for failed or unverifiable payments.
